The mission of Gracious Harvest is to be a place to cultivate the soil, the spirit, God’s bounty, and the community – a place where friends and family join hearts and hands together to feed the body and soul. |

Ours is a true "community" garden; there are no plots allocated to individual members. As a group, we decide what gets planted and where. Members join as a family (kids too!), and pay annual "dues" of $10/family (sponsorships available). From the first Saturday in March to the Saturday before Thanksgiving, there are regular workdays starting at 9AM and typically lasting for an hour or two. Mid- and late-summer, when the garden is especially productive, individuals and families make harvest-only visits to the garden. Participating families are always welcome to share in the harvest, though a lot of it gets donated to the Dorcas food pantry. Workday volunteers bring gloves, work shoes, water to drink, and any other tool they might want (although there are plenty of tools at the site). A workday leader is on hand to let people know what needs doing, and answer any questions. Most of our communication takes place through Facebook, but members can request to be kept informed via e-mail. All members are welcome to attend our planning meetings, which take place on the third Monday of every month (except December) at 7PM in FUMC room 130. |
